The HEARTS process
Next workshop: May 2020
HEARTS stands for:
The HEARTS Process was developed at the Neil Cliffe Centre (part of St. Ann’s Hospice) near Manchester by complementary therapist Ann Carter. Ann has run workshops for therapists and carers who work in supportive and palliative care throughout the UK and Ireland.
It was developed in response to the needs of some clients who were unable or unwilling to receive traditional massage and other therapies to bring about relaxation and a sense of calm. Drawing on different therapeutic approaches, the HEARTS process is a gentle, hands-on, ‘in the moment’ experience which brings about profound relaxation and helps to calm the mind. It can be given wherever the person is with little preparation and uses one, some, or all of its elements.
It can easily be taught to staff and family carers to use when needed to sooth, relax and bring comfort. The workshops are suitable for anyone in a caring role who would like to learn some very simple techniques to be used in the moment which will help to bring a sense of calm.
The workshop offers a versatile package for working with most people, whether patients, family carers and staff. It covers a range of touch techniques and simple relaxations you can use anywhere and in a variety of situations.
Angela is a HEARTS process teacher and can deliver the workshops in your own workplace. Contact me for further information, course dates and prices.
